Unbind Your Spine

 In this session you’ll learn how to harness the power of your vertebrate design so you can stay centered through all of the motions of your life. You’ll also enjoy an embodied exploration of the natural curvature of your spine and be able to take some pressure off your back. Because all of your movement organizes around your spine, this week will lay the foundation for the series.

Effortless Arms

This session will build on the principles of the first week, and focus all around your arms. If your shoulders get tight this will help you relax, reset, and regain your range of motion. You’ll learn new pathways for more balanced movement that will support and sustain the health and vitality of your shoulders.

Happy Hips

The pelvis is a mystery zone to many of us. Develop more awareness of your hips with an embodied exploration of how your joints work, and how yours can best work for you. Building on the weeks before, you’ll learn pathways to sit, stand, bend, and walk well - which will really pay off in the long run.

Full & Free Breathing

When it comes to breathing, there are many many metaphors. In this session you’ll take a look at what is really going on, get to know the anatomy of your breath and learn how to unblock it by releasing tension that can prevent an easy flow of air. Because breathing freely is key to the health and vitality of every cell of your body, what you take away from this session will be a lifelong friend. -Think happier thoughts more of the time

During our time together, Alyssa has guided me in applying the Alexander Technique to my day-time desk job, personal development, along with my creative endeavors. Alyssa combines science (what is known) and intuition (that which is unknown but experienced) into her teachings in such a way that I feel both my intellect and my desire to explore the unknowable ignited. Specific examples of how I have applied the Alexander Technique include: exploring the interconnection of imagination and movement into character development; building the recognition of choice into daily routines to inspire action; celebration of successes to improve motivation and stimulate inspiration; an understanding of my skeletal and nervous systems to improve the efficiencies of my movement; adding in the exploration of whatever arises and experimentation (rather than end-gaining, which was my default tactic) to the building of imaginary circumstances in which I can live truthfully, as well as my meditation practices, and so much more. I come away from each session with Alyssa knowing a bit more about myself and feeling more inspired and empowered. In looking back on our work over the nearly two years, I have more freedom in my creative work, a greater clarity in my purpose as an artist and more empathy as a human, all influenced by our work together.
